Every Upcoming Superhero Movie In 2019

2018 was a great year for superhero movies. With almost every superhero movie released last year being a smash hit, it is no surprise that we are going to have much more superhero movies coming our way 2019. Whether the movie is made by Marvel, DC or any other superhero franchise, it is guaranteed that it will definitely rake up a lot of profit in the box office. Here, I am going to run down all the superhero movies and their release dates coming in 2019.

GLASS
Release Date: 18 January 2019
This is a sequel to the movies Split and Unbreakable. It brings together the stars of the two aforementioned movies, James McAvoy as Beast and Bruce Willis as David Dunn, along with Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke. It takes place in the M. Night Shymalan universe.

REIGN OF THE SUPERMEN
Release Date: 21 January 2019
Reign of the Supermen is the first animated movie DC is releasing in 2019. It is also an addition to the animated movies of the DC animated movie universe. It follows the death of Superman along with the arrival of five new people each claiming to be Superman. This movie definitely deserves a watch if it is anything like the other movies of the franchise.

THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART
Release Date: 8 February 2019
While technically not a superhero movie, it takes place in a universe where DC superheroes are quite eminent. This qualifies the movie to be counted as a DC superhero movie. It follows Emit on his quest to rescue his love interest, Lucy from seemingly space invaders. We just hope it is as good as the first movie. Every thing is Awesome!

CAPTAIN MARVEL
Release Date: 8 March 2019
Captain Marvel is the first movies Marvel fans as waiting for this year. With Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, the movie provides us a look into Captain Marvel's origins and how she had gotten her powers and abilities and also probably answers the question, where has she been all this time? Joining the cast are some familiar faces including Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson and Lee Pace as Ronan.

SHAZAM
Release Date: 5 April 2019
One of the two live action DC movies set to debut on 2019, Shazam has proved the DCEU to be promising in its ability to follow a lighthearted tone after the release of Aquaman in December 2018. The movie is based on the Shazam history of the DC rebirth comics with a villain in Doctor Sivana. Given that he is one of lesser known villains in the DC universe, here's hoping it will be a good movie.

HELLBOY
Release Date: 12 April 2019
Another April entry, but from Vertigo comics this time. This is the reboot to the Guillermo Del Toro and Ron Perlman's two films that are quite loved, giving new star David Harbour a tough bar to hit if he hopes to introduce the character with a new take. It is directed by Neil Marshall and has a supporting cast of Ian McShane, Milla Jovovich, Daniel Dae Kim, Sasha Lane, and more. The major difference between this one and the last two movies is that this one is taking a R-rated approach.

AVENGERS: ENDGAME
Release Date: 26 April 2019
This is the movie you and everyone else including Marvel fans, DC fans and basically movie fans are eagerly waiting for. It is the sequel to the 2018 smash hit, Avengers: Infinity War. Not much about the movie is known (apart from what we got from the trailer, but really are Marvel movie trailers to be trusted?) because of the high level of secrecy Marvel studios prefers to keep about its movies. This is undeniably a very good marketing strategy, as it keeps us fans with only speculations as to what will happen to the MCU after the events of the movie.

DARK PHOENIX

Release Date: 7 June 2019
After a month's break from superhero movies in May, step back onto the superhero genre with a movie that doesn't look all that promising but would be a great achievement it is was. Fans of the X-Men comics finally get to see one of the most popular X-Men comic book storyline play out on the big screen. It is the fourth movie in the relaunch of X-Men franchise that started with X-Men: First Class, but it will also probably be the end of the franchise with the Disney-Fox merger looming.

SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME
Release Date: 6 July 2019
Spider-Man: Far From Home is the first movie of the fourth phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It follows Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man as he shows us the aftermath of the events of Avengers: Endgame but in a less familiar setting - overseas. It is reported that this sequel to the 2017 movie Spider-Man:  Homecoming will feature a plethora of Spider-Man villains such as Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio and Micheal Keaton as Vulture as well as other villains of Spider-Man's rogue gallery like the Scorpion/Mac Gargan, Chameleon and Hydro-Man.

THE NEW MUTANTS
Release Date: 2 August 2019
This movie was supposed to be released in 2018 but due to certain setbacks, it was pushed to 2019. It is one of Fox's risky moves in the superhero genre as the attempt to make the first superhero horror movie. They made the first R-rated superhero movie so, judging by its success, I'm hoping this one would also be good too despite the various setbacks. Nevertheless, it is likely going to be the last X-Men movie to come out from Fox.

JOKER
Release Date: 14 October 2019
Not many DC fans were eager to see the Joker being portrayed again in love action after Heath Ledger's excellent portrayal of the Clown Prince of Crime in the Dark Knight and Jared Leto's portrayal in the 2016 movie just increased that number of fans. But with Joaquin Phoenix at the helm, we are simply hoping that a Joker origin story (which we DC fans totally deserve) will do justice to the character.

OTHER DC ANIMATED MOVIES
Release Dates: Unknown
During 2018 Comic-Con, DC announced that it will be releasing four new animated movies in 2019. But they failed to mention the exact release dates of all of them. The first one is Reign of the Supermen which would be released on the 21st of January, 2019. The other movies are:
• Wonder Woman: Bloodlines;

• Batman: Hush; and

• Justice League Vs. The Fatal Five.

Not much is known about the movies apart from the fact that they would be based on the comic book storylines from which they have been adapted from, but since DC is the king of superhero animated movies, (although that throne was slightly threatened by the 2018 movie, Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse) you can be sure that the movies would be very good.

With that, we have reached the end of the list. I hope you enjoyed it. If so, leave a comment down below if you did and tell us any other upcoming superhero movie to be released in 2019 we missed. Don't forget to share it to your social media platforms.
